WHO WE ARE
WHAT WE DO?
To join our program, you can visit the West Vancouver School District's Mechatronics Robotics Website. All students in grades 9 to 12 in the West Vancouver School District may apply. Click here to find out more.
The Ten Ton Robotics Team is composed of 50 dedicated students in Grades 9-12 from across School District 45. Our incredible mentor is WVSS teacher, Mr. Todd Ablett. Though we are sixteen teams within the Mechatronics Robotics Academy, we operate as one big unit when preparing for and participating in competitions. We work together to - in the the words of Mr. Ablett “push the strongest team of the day up the mountain”.
The Mechatronics Robotics Academy classes run during the final block of each school day, but many students enjoy staying well beyond school hours to work on their robots. Our “Friday Night Builds” often last until 9:00pm. The extra hours our students commit to optimizing the design, build, and programming of their robots allows 1010 teams to be competitive opponents as well as valuable alliances at VEX competitions in the Lower Mainland.
